Do you know that green tea and black tea come from the same leaves on the same tree? Curious to learn more about the world of Chinese tea?

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll be introduced to the basics of Chinese tea culture, including the different types of tea and their unique characteristics. You'll get to experience brewing your own cup of green tea and black tea, guided by the principles of traditional tea-making.

Not only will you learn about the teas themselves, but you'll also have the chance to work with an authentic Yixing teapot, an essential tool in the art of Chinese tea brewing.

Your host, Ruiyuan Dong, the owner of Tingyu Teahouse, has been dedicated to the philosophy of tea as a way of life. Ruiyuan earned her Intermediate Tea Sommelier in 2008 and is passionate about sharing her knowledge and love for tea.

Workshop flow:

• Introduction to the fundamentals of tea culture
• Presentation and tasting of the first tea: Jasmine Dragon Pearls (green tea)
• Demonstration of traditional tea brewing using a Chinese Yixing teapot
• Tea tasting experience accompanied by delicious homemade cookies
• Presentation and tasting of the second tea: Jin Jun Mei (black tea)
• Continued tea tasting
• In-depth exploration of Yixing teapot craftsmanship, followed by a tea tasting session and a Q&A to wrap up the experience
