Does your heart beat for contemporary art, Brutalist-inspired architecture and parks? Then this relaxed walk from the Kunsthaus extension to the lakeside promenade with writer, artist and Heartbreat head Karin Bürki is for you.
Your walk begins at the Kunsthaus extension by David Chipperfield and a mini tour of its striking public entrance hall. Next up we’ll explore «Little Helsinki» - aka Rämibühl Cantonal School and Park (1970), which was strongly inspired by Alvar Aalto and Scandinavian modernism. After a stroll along the iconic Calatrava gallery (1990), modelled on a bull's rib cage above Stadelhofen station, we continue our tour along the scenic lakeside promenade, stopping by Henry Moore’s emblematic, ship-inspired bronze sculpture (1976) and a spaceship-like pyramid. Our final destination is the stunning Le Corbusier Pavilion (1967) - the last building the überdaddy of Brutalism realised in his lifetime.
